Ragnar Research polled likely Republican voters in Louisiana for Cassidy’s Senate campaign. The poll consisted of 600 interviews conducted by live telephone operators, which included landlines (6%) and cell phones (94%).
The poll asked voters’ opinions of the senator’s image and compared him to potential U.S. Senate candidates across the ballot.
Ballotpedia lists Senator Bill Cassidy, Treasurer John Fleming, Randall Arrington, Chris Holder, Xan John, and Samuel Wyatt as candidates for the Senate seat.
According to the polling, Cassidy’s favorability among every key voting demographic is above 40%.
When asked if their opinion of Sen. Cassidy was favorable or unfavorable, 44% viewed him favorably, 34% viewed him unfavorably, 15% had no opinion, and 7% responded that they had never heard of Sen. Cassidy.
When asked if the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate were held today, would you vote for Bill Cassidy, John Fleming, or Randy Arrington? 45% said they would vote for Cassidy, 34% were undecided, 18% would vote for Fleming, and 3% leaned toward Arrington.
Cassidy is strongest among voters who are single or previously married, women over 65, and Catholics, who have a strong voting base in south Louisiana.
According to the poll, Cassidy has a decided edge in a head-to-head comparison with Treasurer Fleming, especially if he can hold on to support from female voters.
Fleming announced his intent to run against Cassidy in December, saying that Cassidy “has failed the people of Louisiana.” The critique was related to Cassidy’s decision to vote to impeach President Donald Trump for his action or inaction in inciting the riots on January 6 at the U.S. Capitol.
The U.S. Senate mid-term election is November 3, 2026.
