Average prices for Louisiana crawfish hit new low: See how much you could pay

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Now is the time to get your crawfish, as average prices for live and boiled crawfish are at the lowest they have been all season, The Crawfish App reported Friday.

The cost of live crawfish is around $2.60 per pound, while boiled crawfish dropped around 10 cents to $4.89 per pound for the first weekend of May.

“We are in the height of crawfish season, they’re a nice size and typically the month of May is the most plentiful supply-wise. It’s also the month with the lowest prices, so get them while you still can!” King said.

While the average price of live crawfish remained consistent, Laney King, co-founder of The Crawfish App, said you can find some for far less, as low as $1.25 per pound, in the state. A sack of crawfish can be found for less than $100 and as low as $50 per sack.
