Tornado watch issued in southwestern Indiana; tornado warning active in Lawrence County

(WXIN/WTTV) — A Tornado Watch has been issued until 11 p.m. for several counties in southwestern Indiana as the threat of severe weather looms.

The National Weather Service announced that a tornado watch has been issued for Monroe, Lawrence, Brown, Daviess, Clay, Greene, Jackson, Knox, Owen, Martin, Sullivan and Vigo counties until 11 p.m. Wednesday night.

A tornado warning was also triggered for Lawrence County until 7:15 p.m. The warning said a thunderstorm capable of generating a tornado was spotted around 10 miles southwest of Bedford and moving east at 20 mph.

The watch said isolated tornadoes remain a possibility, with the possibility of scattered ping pong-sized hail and wind gusts potentially reaching 70 mph. Several counties in Illinois were also included in the watch.
