Suspect killed in Ashland officer-involved shooting
ASHLAND, KY (WOWK) — A male suspect was fatally wounded during a standoff with law enforcement in Ashland Tuesday evening, according to a Kentucky State Police release.
The release said Kentucky State Police and the Ashland Police Department were responding to a reported trespassing and burglary at a residence when they encountered a man armed with a shotgun at a nearby church on Blackburn Avenue.
Despite efforts to negotiate during the subsequent standoff, “the situation escalated” and the suspect was fatally wounded. No officers were injured in the incident.
