By rssfeeds-admin ASHLAND, KY (WOWK) — A male suspect was fatally wounded during a standoff with law enforcement in Ashland Tuesday evening, according to a Kentucky State Police release.
The release said Kentucky State Police and the Ashland Police Department were responding to a reported trespassing and burglary at a residence when they encountered a man armed with a shotgun at a nearby church on Blackburn Avenue.
Despite efforts to negotiate during the subsequent standoff, “the situation escalated” and the suspect was fatally wounded. No officers were injured in the incident.
The officer-involved shooting is now under investigation.
