Matthew Corkern, 35, was taken into custody April 25 following the execution of search and arrest warrants at his residence. Corkern was initially booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on 62 counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13.
The investigation began in December 2024 after the LSP SVU received a cybertip indicating the presence of child sexual abuse material on a social media account. A search warrant revealed Corkern as the account holder.
Authorities said additional forensic analysis of a cellular device seized during the arrest uncovered 730 more images and videos of child sexual abuse material. As a result, Corkern was charged Monday with an additional 730 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles under 13.
The investigation was conducted with assistance from the FBI Baton Rouge Field Office, Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, the Louisiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the LSP Criminal Investigations Division Narcotics/Detectives, and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
State Police say the case remains ongoing.
