The extended outlook calls for a soggy start to May on Thursday, with highs in the mid- to low 60s.

A new and wet weather system arrives later Wednesday into Thursday, bringing the next chance for showers and possible thunderstorms. The potential exists for some soaking rainfall across the metro area.

We should dry out by Friday afternoon, with highs in the low 60s. Then we’re looking at a nice weekend ahead, with low 60s on Saturday then more sun on Sunday and highs in the low 70s.

An overall warmer than normal pattern is forecast to dominate much of the country as we slide into May, except for portions of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas.
