Chicago Rockford Airport welcomes new international flight destination

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Chicago Rockford International Airport will offer a new international destination, along with returning flights to Nashville, beginning in May.

The airport announced that ALG vacations will begin flights to Huatulco, Mexico, replacing Costa Rica destinations this year.

RFD continues to offer flights to Cancun, Mexico, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

In addition, seasonal direct flights to Nashville International Airport will resume on May 22nd, operating every Thursday and Sunday.

According to a press release, March 2025 represented the airport’s best-ever passenger service, with a 34% increase in trips taken compared to March 2024.

“The consistency in growth for passenger travel underscores the airport’s commitment to providing reliable and efficient services to travelers,” said Zack Oakley, RFD Executive Director. “We are excited about the future growth of our passenger services.”
