Off-duty police officer fires weapon at trespasser on her Chicago property

CHICAGO – An off-duty police officer from a department outside of Chicago fired her weapon as someone trespassed onto her Chicago property early Saturday morning.

Chicago police said the incident happened in the 6900 block of West Foster Avenue in Union Ridge on the city’s Northwest Side.

The off-duty officer, identified as a 29-year-old woman, called to report someone trespassing on her property before firing her weapon, according to investigators.

Police said no injuries were reported and responding officers took a male suspect into custody.

The investigation remains ongoing.
