SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — As the weather continues to warm up, many Utahns may be thinking about starting their gardens. If you’re looking for a place to start, here are a few spots that Yelp recommends as the top garden centers near Salt Lake City.

1. 42nd Street Greenhouse

42nd Street Greenhouse is a small, local business that has been offering blooms to the local community for over 40 years. They opened for the 2025 season earlier this month, with their spring catalog including vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers. 2. Cactus & Tropicals

Cactus & Tropicals, with locations in Salt Lake City, Midvale, and Draper, has a rich history going back to 1911. It originally started as a saloon, and over time, it has evolved many times, becoming a drug store and soda shop before turning into the garden center it is today.

Its inventory includes foliage, blooms, orchids, succulents, and cacti. Its Salt Lake and Draper locations also include venues you can rent to host events. In addition to being a stop for your gardening needs, Cactus & Tropicals is currently offering a range of gifts for Mother’s Day.

Western Garden Centers has been in business since the 1950s, offering plant material, roses, perennials, trees, shrubs, vegetables, and herbs. Millcreek Gardens has a range of plants to beautify your garden, such as roses, trees, shrubs, perennials, as well as herbs and vegetables.
