Student in custody after online threats made to Floyd County schools
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Floyd County Schools responded to reported online threats made Sunday toward the school district.

FCS announced on Facebook just after midnight that they had been made aware of the threats circulating on social media.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The district said it immediately investigated the threat with the help of Kentucky State Police, Floyd County sheriffs, and other agencies.

In the announcement, FCS confirmed that a student was identified as the source of the threats. Investigators said the student was reportedly using another person’s name to make “implicit threatening statements” online. They were taken into custody by KSP.

“The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased law enforcement presence at our schools on Monday, April 21, 2025,” the school wrote in a release.

The school district said it will continue to update families as more information comes to light.
