Columbia man charged with DUI, vehicular homicide after crash kills minor

JAMESTOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Columbia man is facing multiple charges after a minor was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday, and two more were injured.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) said David King, 31, was driving just after 1 a.m. on Sano Mount Oliver Road when the vehicle crashed into a tree on the side of the road with at least three minors inside.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

A minor was taken to the Russell County Hospital (RCH), where he would later die from his injuries, according to KSP. Another minor was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries. A third minor was taken to RCH with non-life-threatening injuries.

KSP said that King was charged with:

  • Vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol
  • DUI (third offense)
  • First-degree assault (two counts)
  • First-degree wanton endangerment (three counts)
  • Reckless driving
  • Failure to wear seat belts

Arrest records show he was booked into the Russell County Detention Center.
