Last month, Saratoga Springs Police Department identified the two victims as Eli Painter, 8, and Jessica Lyman, 44. Painter would be pronounced deceased at the scene. Lyman passed away three days after the incident, on March 31.
On Mar. 28, police responded to a 911 call in the area of 1200 N Willowbrook Lane in Saratoga Springs. The 17-year-old caller reported that she had returned home and found the two victims lying unconcious on the floor covered in blood. She also stated that she believed a 15-year-old to be in the home.
According to documents, officers entered the home and began lifesaving efforts. The 15-year-old came out of the bedroom and stated that he had been asleep and didn’t know what was going on.
A responding officer noticed gunshot wounds on both of the victims and began to sweep the residence while paramedics continued helping the victims. The search warrants states that he did not find any signs of forced entry or any evidence in the home.
The 8-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the 44-year-old was transported to the hospital in critical condition, the warrant reads. Officers and paramedics exited the home after this and waited for a search warrant to investigate.
Another document states that after police obtained a search warrant to enter the home, they were able to locate several cell phones. A phone belonging to Lyman was located plugged in next to the bed in the room where the victims were found. There were several missed text messages on the screen from a family member.
