By rssfeeds-admin CHICAGO (WGN) — An Illinois State Police (ISP) Trooper was hospitalized on Wednesday afternoon after they were involved in a crash on the South Side.
According to ISP, the crash unfolded just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of South Wentworth Avenue and West 51st Street in Fuller Park.
Authorities said the trooper was heading north along South Wentworth when a Red Ford sedan ran through a red light and struck the trooper’s squad car from the east side.
The trooper involved in the crash were later taken to the hospital with injuries, though their condition is unknown. It is unclear if anyone else was injured in the crash.
Following the crash, the trooper’s squad car was towed from the scene, as it had sustained damage that left it disabled.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing and it is unclear if any citations were issued.
