New Iberia man arrested in connection to arson at vacant house
IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — State Fire Marshal officials have arrested a man for allegedly setting a fire that destroyed a vacant New Iberia home.
Officials said they arrested Jessie Collson, 36, for his connection to the New Iberia fire.
The New Iberia Fire Department said they responded shortly before 6 a.m., today, to a fire at 1703 Juanita Street in New Iberia. Officials said when they arrived, the abandoned house was fully engulfed in flames.
State Fire Marshal officials determined Collson was living in a lean-to that was against the back of the house. Officials said an investigation revealed that Collson started a fire inside the lean-to, and it got out of control and spread to the home, destroying both structures.
