HAZMAT responds to ‘intentional’ fire at auto shop in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The HAZMAT team responded to an “intentional” fire at an auto body shop in Fresno, the Fresno Fire Department said.

Fire crews say they responded to the area of Van Ness Avenue and Cesar Chavez Boulevard over the weekend for a fire at an auto body shop.

Firefighters say the flames caused extensive damage to the building, and due to the nature of the materials involved, their Hazardous Materials Team (HAZMAT) was called in to assist. Further investigation led investigators to determine the fire was “intentionally set.”

This is an ongoing investigation. The fire department says no injuries were reported in this incident.
