Family dispute in New Iberia results in non-life-threatening shooting, police say

IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — Today, around 4:45 p.m. officials with the New Iberia Police Department responded to a family disturbance at a residence in the 900 block of Jane Street.

Officials said when they arrived on the scene, they located a 40-year-old man who had been shot.

Acadiana Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials were able to gather a description of the suspect and suspect vehicle.

Officials later located the vehicle in the 1000 block of Audrey Street. The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody without incident.

Officials said an investigation revealed that two family members were in an argument which led to one of the individuals being shot.

This is an ongoing investigation. We will update as further information is released.
