Fatal train incident in New Iberia under investigation

NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) — One person was pronounced dead after being hit by a train in New Iberia Sunday morning, according to officials.

The New Iberia Police Department is investigating a train versus pedestrian incident that occurred just before 2 a.m. on Sunday in the 1000 block of West Washington Street.

Officials said one person was pronounced dead on the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office; however, no names have been released. The scene has since been cleared.
