14-year-old boy charged in shooting of 15-year-old during teen takeover in Streeterville

CHICAGO — A 14-year-old boy has been charged in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy during a large teen gathering in the Streeterville neighborhood last month.

Police said the boy faces one felony count of aggravated battery/discharge firearm, one felony count of reckless discharge firearm-endanger, and one felony count of an unlawful use of a weapon-unlawful possession handgun.

According to police, he was arrested Monday by Chicago police and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force on the 400 block of East Pershing Road on the city’s South Side.

Police said the boy was positively identified as the offender who, on March 28, discharged a firearm and struck a 15-year-old boy in the 400 block of North City Front Plaza Drive during a teen takeover incident.

He was placed into custody and charged accordingly.
