Juvenile driver charged after chase in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police announced a juvenile driver has been charged after a chase.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said officers observed a vehicle driving carelessly near Raymond Road and Bobby Rush Boulevard around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10.

Martin said officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver led them on a chase to Dorgan Street.

According to investigators, all of the occupants inside the vehicle were juveniles. Martin said a guardian of the driver was the owner of the vehicle and told police they were unaware the driver had taken the vehicle.

The juvenile driver was charged with felony fleeing.
