1 dead after semi overturned on I-74 in Montgomery County

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — A Sacramento, California, man has been pronounced dead after an early Sunday morning crash involving a semi-tractor-trailer that occurred on I-74.

According to a news release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, personnel were dispatched to the 39-mile marker of I-74 at around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday in reference to an overturned semi tractor-trailer.

When officials arrived, they found a semi that had left the road and had overturned. The semi was reportedly pulling a trailer loaded with potatoes. The release said that when the vehicle overturned, it caused the driver to be ejected.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Satvinder Singh from Sacramento, California, was pronounced dead at the scene. This area of the highway was shut down for multiple hours because of this crash and another that occurred nearby.

Officials said the crash remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reconstruction team. If individuals have any more information about the crash, they are asked to call (765) 362-3740.
