Woman, 33, killed after being struck by truck in Gurnee

GURNEE, Ill. — A 33-year-old woman has died after being struck by a truck in Gurnee Wednesday night.

According to police, officers responded around 8 p.m. to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near Delany Road and Sunset Avenue.

Police said the woman was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead on the scene.

An intial report suggested the incident was a hit-and-run, but further investigation found the driver of the Ford E450 truck had pulled off the road into a nearby business immediately after the crash.

According to police, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to assist with the investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday with the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
