Driver went through stop sign, killed after collision with semi truck on Hwy 99E

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A two-vehicle crash on Highway 99E near Harrisburg ended in the death of a woman on Sunday night, according to Oregon State Police.

Officers responded to the crash near Cartney Drive around 9:13 p.m. One driver, 48-year-old Laura Marie Howard of Corvallis, was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation found that Howard had been traveling westbound in a green Toyota Tacoma when she entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign. Her truck was then struck by a semi truck heading southbound, according to police.

The commercial truck driver and a passenger inside the vehicle were not injured.

Details of what led to the crash are unclear.
