KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — Harsh winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall swept through Kentucky Wednesday night, with over 12,000 customers losing power just before midnight ET.
According to PowerOutage.us, 35,340 customers are without power in Kentucky as of 8 a.m. Thursday.
Gov. Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency ahead of the first round of severe storms on Wednesday.
The severe weather is forecasted to span four days and bring potentially “historic” amounts of rainfall, strong winds, and conditions needed to spawn tornadoes.

If you spot a downed power line, Kentucky Utilities (KU) said to stay away from it and call (800) 981-0600. KU customers can report and track outages through the mobile app and lge-ku.com/storm.
Emergency officials said not to call 911 if you are experiencing an outage unless it’s a life-and-death situation. Instead, call your utility provider.
