Saturday forecast: Not as warm, possible evening showers

CHICAGO — Chicagoland woke up to some mild temperatures and cloudy skies on Saturday morning.

While temperatures were as warm as they were on Friday, they will still be above normal.

Cloud cover increased heading into the afternoon hours as shower chances moved in, but the threat of storms does not arrive until Sunday.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Much cooler lakeside as winds shift easterly off Lake Michigan 10-22 mph. Cloudy, patchy fog developing. Scattered showers, perhaps an isolated thunderstorm. Lows range from the lower 40s downtown to the lower 50s inland. Low: 50.

Looking ahead

An active weather pattern is setting up at times this weekend. Scattered showers are possible for parts of the area beginning Saturday afternoon and into Saturday night.

But, of greater concern is on Sunday, when there is a chance for stronger storms, some of which could be severe.

There is still some uncertainty about where active storms will precisely set-up. The forecast will be fine-tuned throughout the weekend as newer data becomes available and we get closer to the event.

Behind Sunday’s storms, temperatures will plummet on Monday.
