Fouke softball opens conference play strong with big win over Genoa Central

FOUKE, AR (KTAL/KMSS) — On Monday, the Fouke Lady Panthers softball team hosted Genoa Central, earning a big 11-1 victory to open conference play.

The offense started in the bottom of the first inning when Kendall Haworth hit one to the infield, Dragons getting the out at one but allowing a runner to score at home starting the game up 1-0.

Shortly after, Laynie Richardson sent one deep to left, getting a runner home and putting her on third for an RBI triple and a 2-0 lead. After that, Gracie Cherry hit a short one over towards first, called out there but brought another run in making it 3-0 going into the second inning.

In the second inning, an overthrown ball to stop a steal at second allowed a Lady Panther to make it in, followed by a Presley Payne RBI single to make it 5-0.

Jump to the bottom of the third where Kaylyn Hamilton blasted one over the left field wall, bringing in a runner with her as she cleared the bases for a two-run homer, bumping the Lady Panthers up to a 7-0 advantage.

The Lady Panthers went on to tack on four more runs, ending the Lady Dragon’s night early.

Fouke will play next on Thursday, April 3 at Nashville. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
