
The sheriff’s office says CHP had been conducting direct enforcement patrols in response to an increase in thefts in the area.
During the patrol, deputies say a CHP officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Avenue 17 and Road 18.
While searching the vehicle, deputies say stolen mail from 17 different victims, stolen copper wire, and tools commonly used to commit thefts were found.
Officers say the driver, James Graham Jr., was booked into the Madera County Jail under suspicion of violation of his Post Release Community Supervision, suspicion of possession of stolen property, and possession of burglary tools.
