Mississippi teacher facing drugs, gun charge in DeSoto County
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Water Valley, Mississippi teacher was arrested after police accused him of having a gun and drugs on him during a traffic stop.

LaMichael Knighten is charged with license plate – none, expired, improper and drugs, paraphernalia with a firearm.

Knighten was pulled over in DeSoto County during a traffic stop after police said he did not have a proper tag on his vehicle.

Police say this led to his arrest once they discovered a gun and drugs in his possession. He was booked into jail on March 13 and released the same day on a $1,500 bond.

According to Water Valley School District, Knighten is a teacher and coach at Water Valley High School.

LaMichael Knighten is due back in court on April 7 at 9 a.m.
