MANDEVILLE, La. (WGNO) — A former Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy from Mandeville was arrested after he allegedly exchanged inappropriate messages with a juvenile.
According to the JPSO, on Wednesday, March 26, deputies met with the parents of a teenaged victim who had reportedly been exchanging inappropriate messages with a man who was later identified as 57-year-old James Traylor.
Officials believe Traylor met the victim in 2024 while she attended a school, from which she has since graduated, where he worked a paid detail.
Traylor had retired from the JPSO in 2022 after 34 years of employment. He was serving as a reserve deputy prior to his arrest on one charge of computer-aided solicitation of a juvenile.
Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to contact the JPSO’s Special Victims Section at 504-364-5362.
