Arrest made for 2022 deadly shooting in Exeter, deputies say
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man suspected of shooting and killing a man in Tulare County in 2022, was arrested Friday afternoon, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies say just before 1:30 a.m. on May 30, 2022, they responded to a home near Spruce Road and Alfred Avenue in Exeter for a report of gunshots.

Upon arrival, responding deputies reported a man inside the home who was shot to death. The man was later identified as 65-year-old Richard Crowder of Exeter.

Detectives eventually identified 24-year-old Nicholas Hayes of Exeter and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Friday, March 21, 2025, deputies say they found Hayes at a home on the 30000 Block of Florence Avenue in Goshen and took him into custody.

Detectives say Hayes was booked on suspicion of murder.
