SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A Shreveport home went up in flames Wednesday night.

Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Brookbriar Drive at 8:34 p.m.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the front corner of the home.

It took the efforts of 8 fire units and 21 firefighters to bring the incident under control at 8:44
p.m.

According to a release from SFD, the occupant was home at the time of the fire and had a neighbor called 911 after being alerted by the smoke inside the house. American Red Cross assistance and information were provided to the displaced homeowner.

SFD says the cause of the fire was deemed electrical.

No injuries to citizens or firefighters have been reported at this time.
