At around 9:30 p.m. on March 18, police conducted a traffic stop at Bridgton Dr. and South Molly Dr. in Magna, Utah. During the stop, a police K-9 indicated the presence of illegal drugs in the car.
Police obtained a warrant in the investigation, and executed the warrant near 6500 West 3900 South in West Valley City. During the search, law enforcement seized 8,200 suspected fentanyl pills, suspected cocaine, suspected marijuana, and over $28,000 in cash.
Santos Alvarez-Cantor, 27, and Santos Alvarenga, 42, were arrested during the investigation.
Police booked Alvarez-Cantor into Salt Lake County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and four counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Alvarenga was booked on one charge of distribution of a controlled substance.
Salt Lake City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Utah State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) assisted in this investigation.
