Andrew Estefan Valle Acosta, 19, and Elvin Isaac Vega Zuniga, 19, are accused of possessing with the intent to distribute a controlled substance after police found large amounts of narcotics in Acosta’s bedroom.
Agents with the Davis Narcotic Metro Narcotics Strike Force (DMNSF), and the FBI joined forces during an investigation into a source of supply for narcotics working with a drug trafficking organization operating in northern Utah, court documents show.
The joint task force, known as the Wasatch Metro Drug Task Force (WMDTF), was able to identify Acosta and Zuniga as possible suspects in the organization’s supply line.
Agents executed a search warrant of Acosta’s home where they found approximately 100,000 fentanyl pills in his bedroom. Police say both men admitted to distributing the pills on behalf of the trafficking organization.
Both men are being held without bail in the Salt Lake County Jail and face first degree felony possession charges.
