Spring kicks off with below average temperatures along the Wasatch Front
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Spring, Utah! The spring equinox officially occurred at 3:01 a.m. in Utah, and we will start the spring season with below-average temperatures along the Wasatch Front.

We do have a weak storm system grazing northern Utah, so spring starts with clouds, a few spotty valley rain/snow showers, and some isolated mountain snow showers. A trace to two inches of snow can be expected for the mountains. Daytime highs will reach the mid to upper 40s along the Wasatch Front, upper 40s to mid-50s in the central parts of the state, and low 60s in southern Utah.

We get another brief window of high pressure for the close of the work week ahead of another weak trough. This storm system will graze the northern half of the state this weekend and bring another round of light snow into the high country.

The latest weather model runs bring moisture as far south as the I-15/I-70 corridor. We will see how that storm evolves and keep you posted.

Drier conditions are expected Sunday and that’s also when a ridge of high pressure builds through the Desert Southwest and we see high temperatures jump significantly above average into early next week.
