Police arrest man accused of fatal shooting near Our Lady of the Lake Hospital

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A suspect was arrested Thursday morning after a woman was killed in a Wednesday afternoon shooting near Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim in the shooting as Patricia Jackson, 58. An autopsy will be conducted on Thursday.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said the shooting happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. on March 19 near the 5000 block of Hennessy Boulevard. They confirmed that the shooting victim was an employee.

“Our Lady of the Lake is a beacon of healing for our community and today that sacred space was shattered by a tragic act of violence. We lost a member of our work family, a mother, and a friend to many,” Our Lady of the Lake Health President Charles Spicer Jr. said in a statement.

class="wp-block-heading">Police take shooting suspect into custody

Roland Domino, 60, was arrested in connection with the shooting. Police said Domino shot Jackson “multiple times” after a verbal argument in the hospital parking lot.

Domino was apprehended around 7:15 p.m.Wednesday on the Mississippi River Bridge and was charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

Police said Domino has a criminal history including forgery, simple burglary, aggravated assault, and simple battery.
