In January, deputies said they discovered Patrick T. Cantwell, 29, Pleasant Hill, IL, who is a register sex offender in Illinois. According to officials, Cantwell was engaging in a sexual conversation with a minor in Calcasieu Parish over snapchat.
Calcasieu deputies said they issued a warrant for Cantwell’s arrest on Feb. 20. and he was then taken into custody by authorities in Pike County, IL.
On Tuesday, Cantwell was extradited back to Louisiana, then he was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, deputies said.
Cantwell is charged with indecent behavior with juveniles and has a bond set at $500,000, officials said.
According to Pike County authorities, they said Cantwell will be additionally charged for failing to register as a sex offender; providing false information as a sex offender; and obstructing justice.
