Trinity Jagdeo’s grandmother, Roberta Michaels-Hopkins of Camden, disappeared in 1981, but no report was filed. Trinity’s father was still an infant at the time and was eventually put into the foster care system. Over 40 years later, Trinity conducted a DNA test, which revealed that she was the granddaughter of Michaels-Hopkins.

“We’ve always been told that she left to go get some cigarettes and stamps and she didn’t return and so her partner, my dad’s dad called a family member and said hey have you seen Roberta she went to go to the store, left her credentials behind, apparently her purse and things like that and hasn’t returned,” says Jagdeo.

At the time, the family tried to file a missing person’s report and Jagdeo says, “the police kind of shrugged them off and said she’s old enough to disappear if she wanted to because she would have been 28 at the time, and it just kind of fell off. My dad was only seven months.”
