Suspect in death of Mississippi woman dies
WOODVILLE, Miss. (WJTV) – Wilkinson County deputies said the prime suspect in the death of a woman has died.

According to investigators, an arrest warrant was obtained for Gregory Thompson, 60, of Clayton, Louisiana. Authorities attempted to execute the arrest warrant for him on Sunday, March 16, but they said he shot himself. Thompson was transported to a local hospital where he died.

Deputies said Bernadine Rogers, 60, was reported missing after no contact with her family on Monday, March 3. They said Thompson became a suspect in the investigation due to a relationship between the two and conflicting statements he made about their relationship.

Rogers body was later located on Thursday, March 6. They said Thompson then stopped all communications with law enforcement.

Investigators said evidence was recovered that linked Thompson to Rogers’ death.

“Our prayers go out to the family of Bernadine Rogers,” said Wilkinson County Sheriff Reginald L. Jackson. “We worked this case with every resource available to use. Our hope was for a better outcome.”
