Illinois settles lawsuit with publisher over online exposure of voter information

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — The State of Illinois has settled a lawsuit against a publisher that exposed voters’ personal information online.

The Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ reported that Attorney General Kwame Raoul entered into an agreement with Local Government Information Services in January.

The organization runs dozens of right-leaning websites that pose as news outlets, and a conservative political action committee, which posted information from state voter rolls, including full names, birth dates, and addresses.

The settlement did not contain any fines, and the company did not admit to any wrongdoing.
