A buzzer-beater helps STM take down John Curtis in the Division I Select semi-final round

LAKE CHARLES, La. — No. 3 St. Thomas More defeated No. 7 John Curtis, 46-44 in the semi-final round of the Division I Select boy’s basketball playoffs.

A halfcourt buzzer-beater against Huntington helped the Cougars punch their ticket to the final four, and Thursday afternoon, a floater from John Luke Borque sends them to the state final.

He led St. Thomas More with 15 points.

Jarvis Stevenson led John Curtis with a 17-point, 11-rebound, double-double while Autrail Manning followed with 11 points.

The result was a heartbreaking ending for John Curtis who finished the regular season with a Catholic League championship and upset No. 2 Catholic of Baton Rouge en route to the semi-final round.

St. Thomas More will face No. 4 St. Aug in the Division I Select state championship game on Saturday at noon over at Burton Coliseum.
