Person hospitalized after wrong-way crash on I-74

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. – An interstate crash involving a wrong-way driver closed I-74 near Brownsburg for nearly three hours overnight.

The Indiana Department of Transportation shut down all lanes of I-74 eastbound and westbound, according to an alert sent around 12:45 a.m. Monday.

The crash happened near mile marker 66.8.

According to Indiana State Police, a driver was heading the wrong way on the interstate when their vehicle collided head-on with a semi truck.

The injured driver was taken to an area hospital.

A westbound lane reopened around 1:22 a.m. while the eastbound lanes remained closed. INDOT indicated all lanes of I-74 reopened around 3:30 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
