According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Kathy Brooks, of Kings, was seen driving a gray Chevrolet northbound in the southbound lane of Ridge Road, near Pines Road, around 12:08 a.m.
Callers reported that Brooks was drifting in and out of the ditches and causing other cars to leave the road in order to avoid a collision.
When deputies located the car, Brooks had turned around and was traveling southbound in the northbound lane, police said, and ignored the squad car behind her.
Eventually, she went into the ditch and came to a stop in the 2900 block of S. Ridge Road, where she was apprehended.
In addition to the charge of driving under the influence, Brooks also faces charges of illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage.
She was processed at the Ogle County Jail and then released with a notice to appear at a future court date.
