Crews broke ground on Main Street in September 2024 at the site of the former Henderson Municipal Power and Light (HMPL) facility. Cold and wet weather slowed construction on the still house, but crews returned to the site as progress continued.
The existing HMPL building will feature cocktail bars, tastings, and a theater room. Events and visitor areas will also be created.
“We will do the entire distillation process here,” explains Andrew Powell, president of Henderson Distilling Company and Rhythm River Distillery. “So we’ll be grinding grain, cooking it, fermenting, distilling, putting it in barrels for aging, then bringing it back when it’s mature, and putting it in bottles to share with the world.”
The distillery was originally scheduled to open by the end of March. Powell said the goal now is to open Rhythm River by late summer.
