According to Madison County Deputy Coroner Joel Shows, the power line fell in the Roses Bluff subdivision and caused a small brush fire. He said a man came into contact with the downed power line and was electrocuted.
The Wayne County EMA reported four people were transported to a local hospital after severe storms moved through the Beat 4 Community on Tuesday. Five homes were damaged, and a chicken farm was damaged.
According to the Wayne County EMA, the damage is just north of Highway 84 and is not widespread.
The victim has not been identified.
In Vicksburg, a home in the 900 block of First North Street was blown down by high winds on Tuesday. The Warren County EMA director said no one was inside the home at the time of the incident.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said a tree fell on a home on Gardenview Drive off of Spillway Road on Tuesday. The sheriff said a power pole was blown down in Star, which started a brush fire.
