Carnival in Covington parades to start earlier due to wind, rain

COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) — Officials with the Covington Police Department have announced that Tuesday’s Carnival in Covington parades will have an earlier start time due to possible inclement weather.

WGNO meteorologists are predicting wind gusts could reach 40 to 50 mph, with storms expected across the area in the evening on March 4.

Covington police said the parades will now roll at 9:15 a.m., with roads closing at 9 a.m. The parades were initially scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

Carnival in Covington Parades will start on North Columbia Street at North Jefferson Avenue, head to East Boston Street to East 21st Avenue to South Jefferson Avenue, onto East 15th Avenue, turning onto South Tyler Street, onto West 23rd Avenue, onto North Jefferson Avenue and ending at North Jefferson Avenue at West 25th Avenue, according to the Krewe of Bogue Falaya website.
