Shreveport police invite locals to share Mardi Gras stories with officers

SHREVEPORT, la. (KTAL/KMSS) – Mardi Gras season is officially underway and the Shreveport Police Department is encouraging locals to share their experiences with officers during this year’s celebration.

The department is encouraging participants to submit their photos taken with officers to showcase the positive interactions between law enforcement and the community. Photos can be submitted via email at ShreveportPDPIO@shreveportla.gov or send them directly to the Shreveport Police Facebook page.

While the department is encouraging everyone to have fun during the festivities, they also want to remind residents and visitors to prioritize safety. As the festivities progress, please adhere to these important parade safety rules:

  • No glass bottles on the parade route
  • No drones on the parade route
  • No underage drinking
  • No pets allowed
  • No ATVs or off-road vehicle
  • Absolutely no nudity

Citizens should note that road closures for the Gemini Parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. Once inside the parade route, vehicles will be unable to leave. Road closures for the Highland parade will close at 9:00 a.m. with all other roads on the route closing at noon.
