PennDOT and the Shapiro Administration announced Friday the legislation Shapiro signed months ago that allows the year-round inspection of motorcycles.
Prior to the legislation, Act 149 of 2024, motorcycles could only be inspected between March and October. The act was implemented Jan. 17, and was previously signed by Shapiro in November.
Just like any other vehicle inspection, motorcyclists will get a safety inspection sticker that is good for one year after passing.
“Allowing year-round registration of motorcycles gives motorcyclists more latitude to schedule their inspections when it’s convenient for them,” said PennDOT Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services Kara Templeton. “This new law will help give motorcyclists more options to keep their vehicles road ready.”
PennDOT says they have around 355,000 registered motorcycles in Pennsylvania.
