“I think the girls are putting in a lot of work. I think the girls will continue to push and continue continue to do what they do,” head coach Alendra Brown said.
The Lady Patriots started out slow though. ASH held a 9-2 lead midway through the first quarter, before John Curtis pulled off a 12-2 to take a three-point lead at the end of the period.
“I think the girls knew their assignments and they knew their matchups and executed,” Brown continued.”
“I just knew we had to pick it up in the first half cause we didn’t really start out that good so we just had to pick it up in the second half,” freshman guard Jayla Albert added.
John Curtis’s freshmen duo of Albert and Janiyah Williams totaled 36 points on the night. The guards tied one another in scoring, each with a game-high 18 points.
John Curtis will face Huntington in the semi-finals in Hammond, after the Lady Raiders beat Lafayette 67-36.
