By rssfeeds-admin METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — The first of seven pet microchip scanning stations in Jefferson Parish is set to be unveiled in March.
Parish officials said the first station will open at the East Bank Regional Library at 4747 West Napoleon Ave. on March 6 and offer residents a way to check if a lost pet has been microchipped and help reunite them with their owners.
At 11 a.m., a microchipping event will be held, where residents can get their pets microchipped for free by the veterinary staff from the Jefferson Protection and Animal Welfare Services until 3 p.m. or when supplies run out.
Parish officials said the scanning stations “are part of a broader plan to expand pet safety resources across Jefferson Parish,” and help shelters and residents find lost pets quickly.
