Last Monday we shivered in frigid, arctic air that produced a high of only 9 degrees. Readings were 45 degrees warmer than that Monday, when the mercury hit 53 degrees, our warmest day in 11 weeks.
The day featured more clouds than sun, but a gusty southwest wind helped to deliver the early season warmth!
Weather whiplash is in full force. Temperatures averaged 16 degrees last week when factoring in the daytime high and nighttime low, a level more than 14 degrees below normal.
But this week will be far different. The predicted average temperature is expected to be around 40 degrees, or nearly 24 degrees warmer!
The warmth relative to normal was fairly widespread, especially across the Plains where just last week they were setting record lows. Monday highs were 20-30 degrees above normal.
